THE FEASTING PLACE is located in Ohkay Owingeh, New Mexico. North of Española, Ohkay Owingeh is one of the Eight Northern Pueblos found along the Rio Grande. In this Pueblo is where you find my Feasting Place.
I began my business THE FEASTING PLACE after retiring in 1999 from the U.S. Public Health Corp as a Social Worker. Before I retired, I was receiving so many requests to prepare traditional dishes for various events that soon people began suggesting I start a catering business.
I grew up at Ohkay Owingeh (San Juan Pueblo) where my family raised cattle and farmed. Both my mother Margaret and grandmother RosaLeah, were great cooks and bakers. By the age of 10, I was helping them with cooking and beginning to master the art of baking bread and pies in the family ‘s horno (beehive-shaped adobe oven).

My mission or philosophy is “Food is much more than just eating.” Food is a necessity that brings families together. “Back when most people raised their own food and had the time to cook, we were healthier people, physically, mentally and spiritually."
